Holy Hell. Having to sit here and listen to this mindless sonic shit basket that is Starbuck’s HEAR Music is grueling. Most anything that passes as ‘music’ nowadays is questionable, but the flying piles of audio hog shit that are hitting my ears should make whatever music director that is in charge of inflicting this pop drivel on patrons very well goddamn ashamed of themselves.

“Well Paul, you are sitting in a Starbucks.”, you might say.

Yes, it’s not my fault that they’re the only cafe I’ve been to that actually makes coffee I can drink without wincing.

Past that, I’ve been busy busy busy. I’m on a rather large project slapping pieces of functionality onto a broken engine to impress a few people to get some funding to actually make the real product that this should become. This is mind numbing. I’ve been thrown back 5 years in time doing workarounds and time wasting patching to get this thing working on an outdated code base. If I could just go back to writing the engine from scratch as I was doing before I had to switch over to this method to “save time” I’d be happy as a chow chow getting a belly rub. Trust me, chow’s love belly rubs.

Aside from that I’ve been working on a couple other projects on the side. One of which will be posted here once complete. I’m very happy with how it’s coming so far and I hope that anyone who stumbles across this under-managed ‘blog’ will feel the same way.

So it’s been almost a month since I posted anything in this blog. I realized that I’ve never been good at doing this type of stuff. Keeping people up on random bits of my life. Who cares? Really.

So I’ve decided I’m going to shift the focus of this site towards a better direction. Instead of posting my inane blatherings on hootenannies and other BS I’m going to put the emphasis on creating a game library. I have quite a few simple casual titles I’ve written over the past few years that I can post, as well as a couple new things I’ve been working on in the time between the last post and this one. Couple that with some simple tutorials on how to grow some basic skills in AS2/AS3 and possibly some Java and Cocoa (mmm, iPhone).

So I’ll throw another title up here in the coming days and we’ll see how this goes.

Business Week says iPhone SDK will be late

Seems like Apple is having a lot of trouble getting things out the door on time lately. What with last years Leopard delay attributed to the cost of OS engineer time for the release of the iPhone, and then most recently with the Apple TV Take 2 update being delayed by a couple weeks. I shouldn’t knock them for it though. I know that sometimes timelines don’t really wind up the way you’d like them to. Still, with the legendary wrath that Mr. Jobs wields unyieldingly upon his serf engineers you’d think that once would be enough.

Business Week has estimated a 1 - 3 week delay.

Either way I really want to get my hands on this. I’m really interested in how deep they’re going to let us drill into the system, and what brilliant ideas will come from the many talented developers out there. Especially some of whom have already been cracking away via hacks since the device’s inception.

After doing some deep breathing and tearing the hair from my boyfriends leg through some fun turbulence, I am in Vegas! My my, everything looks as though it’s made of plastic.

Fun plastic.

With hookers.

And booze.

So while Señor Sleepy Pants was snoozing, I took myself on a small tour through the casino. We’re staying at the Excalibur, and as you might expect everything is named something chintzy. Example: Ye Olde Laser Crystals. I appreciate it though. Like how trailer trash appreciate dreamcatchers and stickers of the Spirit Of The Wolf.

My best friend and I have an insatiable lust for the Wheel Of Fortune machine. Not the tiny one, the gigantically amazing one with pre-recorded interaction between Pat and Vanna. I can thrust so much money down that thing. It’s sad really, but I love it’s inviting circular structure. It’s love seats. It’s hugemongous enourmous wheel. It turns me into an 80 year old alcoholic widow who joneses for lottery tickets from the local liquor store. But damnit I don’t care. It can take me body and soul.

I need to take a shower. And get some more beer.

In celebration of my boyfriend’s 30th birthday (haha, you’re old now), him, myself, and a few of our friends are flying to Las Vegas tomorrow to spend the weekend basking in the glow of middle-aged problem gamblers and women that really shouldn’t ever step into direct sunlight if they want to engage in meaningful human contact with someone other than the fat guy clumsily attempting to slam a giant wad of dirty money into her grandma pillows.

Actually I have no idea if that’s the type of activity that goes on. But damn it, I sure hope so.

This is my first trip to fabulous Las Vegas, NV., and we are taking a plane. I have a laughably irrational, yet very real to me fear of flying. It involves a man wearing a poorly made rubber suit standing on the wing in mid-flight tearing off pieces of the engine while William Shatner looks on in horror. And in every instance, I always turn out to be William Shatner. So once the plane touches down, preferably from a gremlin free flight, and we check into our room, my fabulous Vegasy adventure will begin. I can only hope it’s filled with wanton smut and plenty of booze. Either way, I’m sure it’ll be documented and posted here for everyone to judge. Viva Las Vegas. Or whatever it is they say, I don’t really pay attention.

This, is Chem-O-Tron. Chem-O-Tron is, if you couldn’t judge by the name, a Robotron clone. A loose Robotron clone. Use the mouse to move the reticle and the left mouse button to shoot. Arrow keys move the cute-as-a-button green chemical bottle around. The object is to clear the screens of all bacteria. Enjoy after the jump.
